NO TWO THE SAME . . .
I make unique textile items using upcycled vintage fabrics. These are at present only sold through Jane's lovely shop in Rye, "Crock and Cosy" on the Strand, where they mingle delightfully with her huge stock of vintage kitchenalia and interiors bits and pieces (I always come away with something I never meant to buy).
Crock & Cosy, Rye
"Crock and Cosy" is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.
Tel 01797 227210 Click here to go to a location map for Crock & Cosy. Every single item is handmade in Kent, with care, by me. There are no Far Eastern sweatshops, no outworkers, just one aging lady and two cats (who will insist on trying to sit on the woolly things!).
The things I make are limited by the inspiration of the available textiles, and the number of hours in the day. LEFT: aprons, teacosies, pegbags and cushions all
hugger-mugger with the kitchenalia at Crock and Cosy. So I'm afraid you can't buy "Make Do & Mend" textiles through this website. It's just to show you some of what I do, and for some background information like care advice and washing instructions. |
MORE ABOUT 'CROCK & COSY'
'Crock & Cosy' is a unique mix of covetable vintage for the home - mostly kitchenalia but more besides - with original textiles, and charming local pottery. Unlike most similar shops, there is no clutter of modern, imported 'gift' and repro stuff, only the real thing, carefully sourced and arranged with inspirational flair. To walk into Jane's shop is to want almost everything in it. Yet while many other 'vintage' shops charge high prices for items which are often in a damaged state, here you'll find everything is both fresh and affordable.
I rarely leave the shop without something wonderful - either something I've been looking for for ages, or something else I discovered only upon seeing it there. |
